Wine Culture without Compromises

New vinophile ideas inevitably emerge when two wine lovers like Erwin Fender and Josef Tesch meet each other. They have already been able to express this in an extraordinary way with the two wines "Lena" and "Emely".

The successful collaboration of the two wine connoisseurs was to be continued in 2007. The mutual attitude – the love of exquisite wines as well as the deep ties to the terroir in Burgenland – were to be realised and reflected in the taste of a very special fine wine. And this is how "Patriot" emerged. Patriot is a wine that delivers what it promises in its name: robust, full of character and unique!

 

 

"Patriot" – pressed from 100% Blaufränkisch grapes and matured in an oak barrel for 30 to 36 months – is a remarkable wine: a clear avowal of the terroir in Burgenland and at the same time a mirror of the passion from Erwin Fender and Josef Tesch.

You can obtain Patriot in our hotel, packed in exclusive wine cases and in different sizes: 0.75 l, 1.5 l, 3 l, 9 l and 12 l.

Fine precious wood flavour, candied orange zests, ripe blackberry confit, subtle scent of nougat, a multi-faceted bouquet. Full-bodied, elegant, soft tannins, extra-sweet reverberation, good length, very harmonious and already perfect drinking maturity.

Deep dark ruby garnet, violet reflections, delicate edge brightening. Inviting scent of dried fruit and ripe cherry fruit, a hint of meadow herbs, candied violets, attractive bouquet. Good complexity, juicy, multi-faceted structure, integrated, slightly sweet tannin, fine wood spice, long nougat finish.

Blaufränkisch "Riedencuvée" 2015

An Outstanding Vintage

Plenty of sun, sufficient rainfall, ripe and healthy grapes... the wine year 2015 was a particular good one, especially for the Mittelburgenland wine-growing region. Perceptible in the Blaufränkisch 'Riedencuvée' from wine-grower Tesch, which combines 4 different top locations of the vineyard.

The cuvée has been aging in 500 litres wooden barrels for 18 months to achieve its maturity. You can obtain the Riedencuvée in our hotel in different large bottles: 3 l, 12 l and 18 l.

Juicy, tight texture, subtle nuances of red cherry, well-integrated tannins, freshly structured, mineral, some nougat, saline aftertaste, good potential of development.

Cuvée Lena

Lena: A Special Wine

The hotel’s own red wine is ready for serving after 18 months of storage in Tarascon oak barrels. The in-house creation has been generated in collaboration with the Schöne Aussicht and the Tesch winery in Burgenland.

'Lena' was rated with 93 out of a possible 100 points by prestigious Falstaff magazine. Cuvée Lena is not only appreciated by professional wine connoisseurs. It is already also among the hotel’s most popular red wines among our guests.

Wine description for Cuvée Lena, vintage 2004

14.5 % ABV, normal cooling, oak, 1,500 bottles (extra dry)Deep red ruby colour, violet reflexes, delicate water edge; in the nose: dark berry confit, fine herbal aroma, precious wood tone and delicate scent of orange peels. On the palate: robust, succulent berry confit, lively acidity structure, full-bodied chocolate tone, mineral length, elegant and lasting, gastronomically versatile and very good potential for maturation.


Cuvée Emely

Emely: A Special Wine

First-class wine quality is also paramount with the wine creation "Emely".

The cuvée consists of 70 % Blaufränkisch, 15 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 10 % Merlot and 5 % Syrah grape varieties. Our wine was stored for 21 months in Tarascon oak barrels.

Dark ruby colour, violet reflexes, delicate lightening of edge and water edge. In the nose: delicate scent of nougat, smoky aroma, dark berries, delicate smoky nuances, some caramel and blueberries. On the palate: tight, firm texture, nimble, extracted sweet finish, very good future potential; even today a good companion for meals.

This wine was rated with 93 out of 100 Falstaff points during the Red Wine Gala at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna on December 9, 2009 and is thereby also among the best red wines in Austria!

 

 


Cuvée Cornelia

Cornelia: An Unique Wine

In 2017, we edited the wine 'Cornelia', in addition to our in-house creations Lena and Emely. Cuvée Cornelia 2017 convinces as a top vintage with first-class wine quality.

In collaboration with the Tesch winery from Burgenland and the Schöne Aussicht the cuvée Cornelia was created - from the varieties Blaufränkisch, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The exclusive wine is a fine accompaniment to food and was awarded 93 out of a possible 100 points by the renowned Falstaff magazine.

Deep dark ruby garnet, opaque core, violet reflexes, subtle edge brightening. Confit of ripe dark fruits of the forest, a hint of candied orange zests, subtle nuances of wooden spice, attractive bouquet. Juicy, complex, tight-knit, integrated tannin, some blackberry on the finish, chocolatey finish, fine food companion.
